AFchamber ESG Committee Held A Hybrid Event On “ESG in Banking: Implications for the Business Environment”
On 25 June, the Azerbaijan – France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AFchamber) Environmental, Social, Corporate Governance (ESG) Committee held a hybrid event on“ESG in Banking: Implications for the Business Environment” with the intervention of the expert Khader Al Bahou, GRI Certified Sustainability Professional and Independent Consultant.
The event aimed to explore the growing importance of ESG factors in the banking industry and their impact on the business environment.
The event started with the opening speech of Ilaha Amirbeyova, Chair of the AFchamber ESG Committee and moderated by Teyba Guliyeva, Chair of the AFchamber Management Board.
During the event, Khader Al Bahou, GRI Certified Sustainability Professional and Independent Consultant, Ilaha Amirbeyova, Consulting Leader at Galante Partners LLC, and Madina Mammadova, Deputy Chair of the Committee, and Sustainability Manager at Deloittee shared a presentation about the dynamic and complex role of ESG in the banking industry. During the discussion, key topics highlighted included how ESG principles represent a shift in financial institutions’ approach to corporate responsibility and sustainability, and translating climate change into financial risks and designing climate risk frameworks.
The event continued with a Q&A session and a lively discussion.
