ALSTOM with AFchamber took part in Winery Tour of Savalan Aspi in Gabala
On October 18, 2024, ALSTOM & AFchamber participated in a winery tour of Savalan Aspi, a fellow member company of the Chamber, in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
Savalan Valley, known for its exceptional terroir and climate, is one of the prime wine-producing regions in Azerbaijan. The vineyard is nestled in a protected location, shielded by the Greater Caucasus Mountains and bordered by the Turyanchay River.
During the tour, participants explored the winery’s production facilities, including the wine and brandy cellars and vineyards. Aygun Atayeva provided a comprehensive presentation of the history of winemaking in Azerbaijan. The tour culminated in a tasting of eight wines, and a special menu prepared.
Savalan Aspi carefully selected over 22 grape varieties, including six Noble Grapes: Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. These grapes, sourced from Vivai Cooperative Rauscedo, a leading European supplier, thrive in the winery’s 360-hectare vineyards. The grapes are handpicked and sorted, ensuring only the finest are used in the production process.
