On 3 November 2022, a visit to Nakhchivan was organized by the European Union Azerbaijan representative in cooperation with COWI International Consulting Group, Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Italy-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, and  InvestBaku. Ambassadors of 10 European countries, heads of European companies operating in Azerbaijan, and representatives of Chambers attended the visit. The main purpose of the trip was to get to know the industrial and agricultural sectors of Nakhchivan, to discover current developments and investment opportunities for the business sectors of the European Union. On the first day of the visit, a meeting was held between the ambassadors of European countries and Vasif Talibov, the Chairman of the Nakhchivan Supreme Council. After the meeting, they visited Nakhchivan Business Center with other representatives. The official session started with the speech of Tapdig Aliyev, the Minister of Economy of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, who welcomed the representatives and gave information about the economic situation of Nakhchivan. The next speech was made by Peter Michalko, the European Union Ambassador to Azerbaijan. Ambassador Peter Michalko, the head of the permanent representation of the European Union in Azerbaijan, said that Azerbaijan is a special trade partner and a strong market for the European Union. He defined further expansion of export opportunities of products produced in Nakhchivan as the main goal of European Union. Namig Pashayev, the head of the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, in his  speech gave information about the autonomous republic’s energy resources, the use of alternative energy sources, and emphasized that the meeting opened wide opportunities for cooperation with the leading companies in the field of electric energy of the European Union. Then the Nakhchivan Minister of Economy presented the report on Nakhchivan’s macroeconomic indicators. At the end of the event, the head of the EUD, Viktor Bojkov gave information about the programs of the EU,  emphasizing the economic importance of supporting local entrepreneurs. After the official part, guests got acquainted with the modern production and service areas of the autonomous republic at the Nakhchivan Business Center. European diplomats were interested in products of light and heavy industry, agriculture, food, textile, automobile industry, and other fields. Local drinks, especially wine types and Nakhchivan cuisine samples exhibited in the center aroused the interest of the guests. After the visit to Nakhchivan Business Center, Nakhchivan representatives provided an official lunch at “Milli yemekler” restaurant and they presented gifts from locally produced products. Immediately after the official lunch, the representatives visited Nakhchivan Solar Power Plant, “Badamlı Mineral Water” LLC, and to “Gemigaya Wine Production” LLC. Guests got to know the production process in the “Badamlı Mineral Water” factory and attended the tastings held at the Gamigaya winery. The first day of the EU Business mission ended with an official dinner at the Tabriz hotel.
